What You Should Know before Buying Bedding - it Is Intriguing

June 16th, 2009

Long time ago when I was a child, I recall that all the bedding in my house had to be white cotton ones. nowadays you find so much variety in these that it becomes hard to choose. The latest bed sheets are available in appealing prints and colours that change the look of your sleeping room

Here are six steps that you can follow to purchase the perfect bed sheet for yourself.

Take the beds measurings

You might think that all twin beds or king size beds are standard, but sadly it is not so. Besides the top measurings, all the rest can be unusual depending on the brand. Due to this disagreement in the dimensions, it is safe to measure all the dimensions and the depth of your mattress too. Your bed could be shorter or taller than another one from the same producer. Measuring your bed will give you an idea of the size of your bedsheet before buying.

Determine from where to buy

Large departmental storehouses have a separate division for linen and bedding and offer branded sheets and in-house brands under the same roof. For a different look, some people also go for embroidered bed sheets with sequins. The Internet is full with fresh new patterns every day. The basic are sold in discount shops for a reasonable cost.

Do you know what is a thread count?

The number of threads that are present in a square inch of the sheet in back and forth direction of its weave is known as thread count. This count is mentioned on the label of the bed sheet itself. A luxurious texture calls for a higher thread count. Dont go for a higher thread count than preferred as the thin single threads will not feel cozy. A soft bed sheet has a thread count that lies between 175 and 250.

Choose the bedsheet cloth.

A material that is reasonably priced and feels nice to sleep on is the one for you. Though cotton fiber is the most preferred material, some people go for the cotton blends as they do not wrinkle. A cold night calls for a flannel bed sheet. Then there is the all time preferred silk, satin or microfiber that provides luxury.

Evaluate the bedsheet

The sizing of the bedsheet you select has to be checked at this point. With the bed size ready with you, check if the bedsheet you plan to buy will fit your bed. Remember that all shrink by 7% when they are first washed. If you have really liked the bed sheets you plan to purchase, always invest in some additional sets. This way an accidentally torn sheet can be replaced fast.

Hope these six steps lead you to finding a perfect bed sheet for your bed.
