Finding a Used Medical Imaging Workstation for Less

December 27th, 2010

Since medical imaging workstations have become an essential component in radiology and imaging departments worldwide, it has become possible to buy good-quality used digital imaging tools without compromising on effectiveness and efficiency - while saving thousands of dollars.

Some of the most common components of medical imaging workstations include PACS radiology, also known as picture archiving communications systems. PACS is used by healthcare professionals to capture, store, distribute, and display patient’s images. Additionally, PACS medical imaging workstations allow medical images such as X-rays and CAT scans to be electronically stored, and viewed on computer screens or a mammography workstation. New developments in PACS radiography allows practitioners to very quickly determine the quality of an image and accurately come to a correct, more informed diagnosis.

In nuclear medicine applications, digital images are shared with radiology departments by sending screen-capture images to PACS. In addition, medical imaging workstations give radiologists the tools to store, retrieve and view MRI scans, CT scans and similar data faster and more efficiently. Medical imaging workstations provide physicians with the capacity to access the appropriate image both onsite and remotely, making medical facilities more effective and more efficient.

An excellent source to begin your search for a used medical imaging workstation is MedWOW. For example, if you are searching for a used PACS, you will find that MedWOW features a large selection of complete systems, as well as an array of parts and accessories, all at very reasonable prices. Some of the current PACS for sale include: Hewlett Packard Kayak D6723T, Agfa Paxport, Dyonics Vision 635, Philips Inturis for Radiology and many more.

Digging Deep

November 30th, 2010

Work begins soon high atop the Colorado Capitol on the building’s rusty dome, but deep beneath the century-old structure, a less-glamorous renovation is getting underway.

On Friday, crews began drilling one of two wells that will be used to install a geothermal heating and cooling system that is expected to result in hefty savings on utility bills for the Capitol.
The geothermal heating and cooling system is designed to tap into the year-round 55-degree temperature below the earth’s surface.

Lance Shepherd, manager of design and construction for the state architect’s office, said they are drilling down two holes about 900 feet, one a supply well and the other an injection well.
During winter, the state can pump water up into a geothermal heating system, transferring the heat into the building. The reverse is true in the summer, when the system can help transfer cool air into the building.

Underground-temperature- based geothermal systems are popular with large public facilities such as schools, which are willing to bear the upfront costs to reap the long-term savings of doing away with combi boilers.
Officials say the geothermal system at the Capitol will be “revenue-neutral,” generating enough money in savings to pay for itself.

Colorado has received a $4.7 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to help pay for the geothermal system, and the state plans to finance the nearly $1.3 million in matching funds for the system through the savings in utility costs, estimated at $100,000 per year, it will reap going forward.

After the wells have been drilled, workers will install stainless-steel piping for the system, which Shepherd said would last “pretty much indefinitely” because the pipes won’t be exposed to the elements.

New pumps for the system will be installed in the sub-basement of the Capitol. And air- conditioning and heating systems in the Capitol, some of them 40 years old, will be replaced with high-efficiency heat pumps.

The state is starting the work this month but will have to suspend it during the 2011 legislative session. The system is slated for completion next fall.

Home Buying Tips

August 31st, 2010

While it might be a buyer’s market, this doesn’t mean that it still isn’t critical that you make wise decisions when it comes to purchasing a home. A variety of mistakes can prove costly to a potential home buyer. With a bit of caution however, and the proper knowledge regarding the best ways to go about buying a house, you can better select the home that is right for you from among the crowd of available properties on the market.

Inspection Service

A home inspection might be one of the most crucial aspects of the home buying process in order to ensure that the buyer is aware of potential problem areas there might be with a property.

An inspection will typically cover the exterior of a home, a garage or carport, as well as the interior of the home. While such an inspection will guide a buyer through many areas where problems might have occurred within a home, don’t expect an inspector to know what lies behind walls or down mysterious sewer drains. The inspection is normally limited to what the inspector has reasonable or direct access to and can make a visual inspection of without disturbing the overall structure itself or risking his safety.

These items might include, but certainly aren’t limited to:

• HVAC (air conditioning, heating, ventilation) • Appliances (washer, dryer, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, oven) • Accessible gas or plumbing leaks • Outlets or visible wiring or electric issues • Foundation cracks (if visible) • Roofing issues or leaks • Drainage issues around the structure • Signs of bug infestations or damage

A Qualified Realtor

Your specific situation or knowledge regarding the home buying process may determine whether or not you need a realtor. A qualified and knowledgeable realtor however, can often be an asset even for those with an extensive knowledge of the real estate field.

If you are unsure where to begin when searching for a qualified and trustworthy realtor, consider asking friends, family or co-workers what real estate agent or agency they used when purchasing homes and what their experience was.

A qualified realtor may assist you in:

• Understanding and explaining the home buying process • Choosing homes and areas better fitted to your specific needs • Pointing out issues or problems with a property • Assisting in the negotiating process

Negotiations

Negotiations and the techniques involved can be another critical aspect to a successful home buying strategy. By not jumping at the first home you see, taking your time in considering all aspects of a particular home in which you are interested, and asking questions to become fully informed about the property, its value, and the surrounding area, you may strengthen your hand when it comes time to negotiate.

The Ins and Outs of Equity Release in Spain

July 5th, 2010

If a property is paid for cash in Spain it’s going to be much tougher than at present it is in UK to raise funds at a later time some of the equity.

UK’s mortgage procedures are less complicated and manageable mortgage loans in many cases are provided to individuals who’ve unencumbered properties, and can also be accessed at any time whether they have the necessity in the future.

In cases where cash is paid for a residence in Spain utilization of the equity afterwards is going to be far more of a challenge.

Raising funds on an unencumbered Spanish real estate would be complicated in any way because so many lenders are usually not agreeable to grant equity release. Several banking institutions might do this on condition that the funds put up should be applied specifically for property repairs.

Some lenders will grant cash to be used from the property for almost any function although these are generally rare. Commonly, interest levels for Spanish equity release are greater than those for acquisition mortgages costing to twenty-five percent additional.

Whenever getting finance for purchase mortgage loan the expenses are going to be approximately four percent of the amount of money borrowed, commonly the same exact charges when establishing a release equity mortgage. Set up expenses cannot be included with the financial loan whenever the most loan to value has already been obtained and are going to be deducted from the overall amount borrowed on time of finish.

Unbiased guidance on charges and availably should be undertaken prior to any financial responsibilities on use of the cash are created. If you are searching for great, genuine as well as independent advice on Spanish Mortgages then consider contacting IMS Spanish Mortgages located in the Costa Del Sol.

How to Engage Your Employees

June 1st, 2010

As any able manager knows, individuals are the greatest asset of any organization. And just like financial assets, if you don’t pay attention and take steps to elevate their development and evolution, they often begin to stagnate and become less fruitful over time. Lack of employee involvement is usually not a highly visible phenomenon. A person can look active without being productive - doing his or her task without noted flaws, but also without significant accomplishment over time. Disengaged employees aren’t usually complainers - in fact, they appear to be satisfied and dependable. Perhaps they’ve even noticed ways your company could improve its procedures and reduce expenses - but without a culture of employee participation, they may not have a supervisor who is willing to listen, or be able to identify another outlet for their ideas. As a result, they may even be utilizing company time and resources to look for employment opportunities elsewhere. Here’s a list of potential best practices to implement: from the top Business Coach in Charlotte:1. Conduct departmental or group-based inquiry to determine how your employees feel about their jobs, and how they see the organization overall. This will often furnish a wealth of data to guide you in your efforts to improve their job performance and the overall success of your organization thereby.2. Create involvement activities that reach out to all employees. Some examples: employee recognition each quarter, rewards for wellness program involvement, and bonus opportunities tied to suggestions for improvement.3. If your company doesn’t already have an employee engagement program, get one! Consult organization development sites and executives at other companies who have a good working model and can share valuable “lessons learned” that will reduce your trial and error process. The more that each employee is shown how your company values their input and daily contribution, the more your company can - and will - benefit from the creativity and enthusiasm that exists at the heart of every human being. People are your most valuable asset - so invest in them and harvest the rewards of that “win-win” approach to business!

It’s the Start of the Isa Season

April 16th, 2010

Why Individual Savings Accounts providers focus on marketing Isa investments to customers at the final stage of the tax yr just does not make sense at times.
Admittedly many investments are set up at the end of the tax year, at the last minute. However there are rewards to making an investment at the start of the tax year.
Since march 2009 equity markets have produced good returns as leading economies get out of recession.
Investors that had invested there Individual Savings Accounts allowance in April 2009 could possibly have seen a good return on their investments.
If another great yr of returns is accomplished then those investors will have had the benefits of 2 lots of Isa investments made in years where the returns were substantially greater than cash based deposits.
If they were married and both over the age of fifty, in theory they could have invested up to £40,800 in equity based Isa’s for the 2 tax yrs.
All The Same if they invested at the end of the tax year they would have lost out on last yrs increase and will not make the investment of their allowance for the current tax yr until 2011.
If you are considering whether to get the most of your Isa allowances each twelvemonth then it might be more appropriate to invest at either the start of the tax year or alternatively on a regular monthly basis.

Bifold Doors for Versatility and a Outstanding Look

February 27th, 2010

Substitute windows and doors used to only be available in grey aluminium if you didnt want wood and the styles rarely bettered the aesthetics of the buildings they adorned. The outcome of this are many aesthetically spoiled period homes with windows which are now a fire hazard because they openings are too small to escape through.

Although of variable quality initially, white PVCu designs became available and have now become of outstanding quality.

As the old-fashioned designs become outdated, home owners now have a superfluity of window and door styles and materials to choose from.

The patio door market has been very big for many years because they offer an outstanding and convenient solution to let light and air in a house. They also provide an outstanding thermal barrier when shut. Patio doors have recently made way for the Rolls Royce in this market which is now the hugely variable Bifold door. Anyone looking to buy patio doors now should first be considering whether they could step-up their investment to a bifolding door.

Bifold doors can be configured to span a very wide opening or smaller spaces, behaving when closed as a glass wall to allow in increased light and to offer wide views over the outside scene or garden. They can very easily open up an entire wall to allow smooth integration of external and internal areas, for example, for parties or for children to play safely inside and outside on a lovely day. Alternatively, they can serve to broaden available space in limited areas, such as providing inclusion of a balcony to form part of a small apartment on a fair day or brightening up an otherwise dark nook.
When fully opened the doors zig-zag compact either to the left or right or split into both sides therefore limiting their encroachment into the room or outdoor space. They can be configured to allow french style doors when full opening is not required and a single opening door for pedestrian access in the normal way.

Available in most modern materials, including wood, aluminium, PVCu and aluminium clad timber, this product is available in a good range of colours and finishes from specialist window companies. Although costly, aluminium clad timber, gives you the quality finish inside and the choice of colours and low maintenance options that aluminium cladding offers.

Cant’ Pay Your Spanish Mortgage: What Options Do You Have?

January 16th, 2010

In uncertain economic times, many people find themselves unable to make their mortgage payments. If you find yourself unable to pay your mortgage on your primary or second home, you may face major consequences. These consequences vary by country and can even vary by state or province within the same country, so it is important to understand them fully.

For instance, when you default on a Spanish mortgage, there are certain consequences. In past years, it was possible to default on a Spanish mortgage with little to no loss at all to the homeowner. People who were not Spanish citizens but owned a vacation or second home in Spain could default on the mortgage with little or no cost or repercussions. But now Spanish banks have become more aggressive about enforcing mortgage terms for all homeowners, even non-Spanish citizens.

In case a homeowner must default on a Spanish mortgage, turning over the home to the bank is often an option. Turning the home over to the bank will save you a lot of money, as the bank will not have court costs associated with pursuing you for the mortgage, and your interest will stop accruing sooner. You cant just turn the keys over to the bank without arranging it, however. The bank can to agree to accept the home back, but they do not have to. Homeowners that have a true hardship as a reason for defaulting on a Spanish mortgage will likely be more successful in negotiating a home turnover. An example of such a hardship would be the death of a spouse or another situation that has caused your income to be drastically cut.

If the bank rejects a home turnover offer from the homeowner, he or she will need to try to sell the home quickly. The homeowner must sell the home for as much as possible, as the bank that holds the Spanish mortgage will come after him or her for any amount remaining on the loan after the home sale proceeds are paid to the bank. If the shortfall is significant, the bank will be much more likely to pursue you for that amount. But the bank can legally attempt to collect any amount from you. The bank may collect money by placing liens on any and all assets of the homeowner. Although it may take years to collect on the shortfall by going through the court systems, the bank that holds your Spanish mortgage will not give up until they do.

If you must default on your Spanish mortgage, it is vital that you contact the bank as soon as possible to work with them. Working with the bank that holds your Spanish mortgage can result in a fair settlement that benefits both you and the bank with as little impact on your other assets or financial holdings as possible.
