Finding Time to Volunteer

December 12th, 2009

A volunteers’ brotherhood can unite their community, and naturally it will support their local poor. Traditionally, however, organizing your schedule so that you’re free to volunteer may waste some of that very same free time. Obviously, if volunteering becomes a larger effort with colleagues, it’s likely to be far more fun. Consequently, a number of companies are making themselves into initiatives encouraging their employees to work for the community through volunteer activities. A leader in this field is Adaptive Marketing LLC of Connecticut who also offer shopping and financial benefits programs such as Todays Escapes to consumers. If you were asked for examples of company-backed volunteer work, you’d most likely talk in terms of giving blood, perhaps a Christmas call for donations, and no more, but that’s no longer true in the modern day. The employees of Adaptive Marketing are regularly provided with the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of community initiatives. For events like these, the locations, dates and times that had been arranged were announced, making sure that staff knew what to expect, and how much time it might take exactly.

It’s hardly volunteering if there’s no opportunity to select projects. At Adaptive Marketing, the company behind Todays Escapes, staffers are presented with the chance to choose from a diverse list of activities. These may include working on environmental initiatives et cetera. The result is that Adaptive Marketing volunteers have opportunities to find the most effective way to work and enjoy participating in the process.

Typically a company-sponsored charity program — getting involved with a local school or assisting at a homeless shelter — is either done on a regular schedule or as a one-off event. No matter how little time you have, you’re sure to find some program to suit, which makes time no block against charitable work. Using their expertise to help the community around them has long been a tradition at many businesses. Adaptive Marketing maintains volunteer activities to help others and to spread goodwill through its home community through its members of staff activities. Helping around your hometown can make you feel like a better person — just the sort of thing to motivate employees in both their daily work and their volunteer activities. Putting the opportunities out there to help employees become volunteers rewards everyone involved.

Women Fight Back against Birth Control Pill Misinformation

December 3rd, 2009

Reports of Yaz side effects continue to develop as the makers of Yaz, Yasmin and Ocella ready themselves for further litigation and more potential cases. Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, makers of Yasmin and Yaz, and Barr Pharmaceuticals, makers of the generic version Ocella have been barraged with allegations extending from downplaying the severity of side effects in their commercials to knowingly letting loose a serious and potentially deadly product on American women.

Among the other contestations impending on Yasmin, Yaz and Ocella birth control, the drugs also contain drospirenone, an element not in other oral contraceptives. The British Medical Journal issued studies in August 2009 recording a higher risk of venous blood clots in adult females taking drospirenone as opposed to those who received other oral contraceptives. In the same month, the Food & Drug Administration issued an uncorrelated advisory to Bayer Pharmaceuticals, makers of Yaz, for using low-quality batches of drospirenone from a plant in Germany. For the benefit of public interest and well-being, these studies have been made available free on the internet.

Any women that have been wounded as a result of taking Yaz, Yasmin or Ocella may be eligible to an award. Many lawyers and legal aid agencies such as thelegaladvocate.com now provide assistance to anyone experiencing side effects and health issues as a direct result of using Yasmin contraception. Now that more adult females across the country are coming forward and filing lawsuits, the legal system is moving closer to providing justice for those who were misinformed by the birth control manufacturers and possibly their doctors.

Cancer of the Mesothelium a Uncommon Cancer

April 21st, 2009

Mesothelioma is a uncommon cancer of the tissue that lines people’s inside organs. Almost 2,000 new occurrences are pinpointed every year in the whole United States. Out of these, almost75 percent of instances concern the sac around the lungs, called the pleura. This is known as pleural mesothelioma. In about ten to 20 percent of cases, malignant mesothelioma could concern the tissue that encloses visceral organs, named the peritoneal membrane, generating what is then referred to as peritoneal mesothelioma.

Introduction to asbestos is absolutely the primary cause for this rare cancer. Following asbestos exposure, the time period to development of the mesothelioma disease could be 2 to 4 decades. Due to job related introduction, cancer of the mesothelium is around three times more regular in males, than in females. Because the mass of occurrences rises with your age, there are about ten times more cases in the men over age 64 than in the men in their 30s.

Getting Malignant mesothelioma is a weighty disease, that, at the current time, has a incredibly bad rate of continuing endurance. On the other hand, if it is recognized early, care are then at hand that will considerably prolong the patient’s life. All new approaches continue to be and are being tested by the way of clinical trials.

National Guard On The Border and Politics

June 18th, 2008

The President of the United States has said we need to put more National Guard on the Border and indeed it is the responsibility of the Federal Government to protect the States from Foreign Invaders as per the Constitution. So it is now been requested and it is the duty of the US Senate and Congress to see that this is done.

Now a couple of border Governors are trying to play both sides of the political game and whining that they were not consulted as to the President’s Plan to put the National Guard on the border? Yet the Governors have been requesting beefed up border security and several of them have stated we need the US Army on the Border with Mexico. Well, now it is you see? I say; “No worries, as it is what the people want.” And it is what is best for our nation too and the Governors know this already. Some folks find all this political rhetoric kind of amusing, when all of them have said at least once in the past that we need the military down there and/or called for the use of the Guard.

Indeed. I think the Governors are also reiterating the question of; is the Federal Government really going to fix this issue or is it another PR stunt. That is what we have to watch out for. So, this is a very important endeavor and people will want immediate action of course, they lack patience in this new world of 2 min average attention spans. In fact as an online writer I have noticed that I have had to cut down my articles to about 220 to 400 words or no one will read them.

Many folks say such things such as; “I wish they would all just adhere to the immigration laws that are on the books now and would just do what Americans want.”

This is what I have found scouring the Internet and participating on Political Style Blogs and really what true American can argue with such obvious logic? And the other message I am hearing out there goes something like this; “You know, who cares about political correctness and why the Legislatures would concern themselves more with the citizens of other countries than their own.”

It appears that the Illegal Alien issues will be debated a bit more, but the problem may actually be solved during President Bush’s term in office and this is something that the Administration can be proud of, as well as our ancestry who sacrificed so much to leave us in such good shape in such wonderful country. So, perhaps you will consider this in 2006.
