One of the better ways of doing this is through employee performance appraisal software. As we all know that making the most out of your company necessitates knowing where your employees perform most strongly, and knowing how to customize your procedures to suit. The first step is to bring employee performance management systems into play. Once this is done you can assess the work of each worker. Analyzing all of this data is next. Before it’s ready to use determining goals and checking future progress you need to know what the raw information actually tells you. With performance management software, you can easily look at the various analyses to determine the ideal objectives and subsequently keep track of the employee’s development. By doing this you eliminate a major demand on your time while probably receiving more precise information into the bargain. It’s also possible, of course, simply to use the software to keep track of raw data like performance reviews and to examine these items yourself. Performance management software doesn’t just work for staff. You can also use the software to examine your clients and suppliers. For example, when looking at suppliers you can more easily see their weak points like slow delivery times, high rates of loss, etc.

When it comes to affilates performance management software can still provide a clearer picture there telling you just who your best seller is, any loss percentage and similar troubles, and serving as a reminder of any payment issues. Then, you can adjust your ordering and stock handling to maximize your income while minimizing outgoing money. Who wouldn’t want to take advantage of that? As well as all this, marketing campaigns become much easier to plan because you’ll have a deeper insight into your ideal demographic.

Bell Canada Offers Server Replication to Ensure Enterprise-class Availability at a Lower Cost

September 20th, 2009

Bell announced today that it is going to offer server replication services that will allow mid-sized clients to enjoy continuous availability of data and applications in the event of system failure or similar disasters. According to the company’s statement, it is going to be the first major Canadian provider to offer this type of service, trumping other online backup solutions by providing a high-availability solution that was originally available only to custom-built enterprise-class dedicated software and hardware systems.

The said replication service is going to be delivered according to the Software as a Service (SaaS) model. This means that there’s no need for capital investment - an advantage for medium-scale enterprises given today’s economic environment.
The new managed server replication service will come with SaaS-based data protection along with real-time WAN replication of databases and file servers for Microsoft Exchange, Windows Servers, Microsoft IIS, Microsoft SQL, Oracle and Blackberry.
The service also offers application availability through failover and failback for Exchange, SQL, file servers, IIS and Oracle. It will also provide complete data protection and recovery in case isolated data gets corrupted. The replication service also comes with scheduled tests that are fully automated. The tests will not disrupt production environment or hamper the availability of information.

According to Stephane Boisvert, Bell Business Markets President, the new service by Bell will provide clients with Enterprise-class protection within their mid-market budget. Customers will be able to free up their capital budgets for other operating expenses. And because it is scalable, the service is expected to expand to suit a growing business’ needs.
Along with the launch of the new service, Bell is also going to offer discounts for customers who will register for their webinar on the new product on September 22. Interested parties may visit Bell’s official website.

Channeladvisor Pro- A Review

July 7th, 2008

Channel Advisor has just launched a UK version of their highly successful auction management software ChannelAdvisor Pro. This Internet based system provides a whole range of management solutions for serious individual and small business sellers It can save you a great deal of time by handling many of the routine tasks involved with selling on eBay.

The program offers templates and image hosting as well as helping you to create an attractive and attention grabbing listing. It also manages the complete after sales process including the communications with your buyers, payment collection and the leaving of feedback.

As well as being able control all your buyer e-mail communications the ChannelAdvisor Pro also handles all backend activities such as inventory management, invoice and delivery note printing. On every useful feature is that you can schedule your listing without incurring any extra fees from eBay

Once a sale is made your customer will be redirected into the ChannelAdvisor Pro checkout . Here the buyer gives all the necessary details such as invoice and delivery address and can even be given the opportunity to make further purchases from you.

All in all this appears to be a very useful solution for busy eBay sellers. Currently there are 2 levels of membership, the Starter and the Power. The Starter, which costs just £3.90 a month, is designed intended for sellers who would normally sell less than £2000 per month on eBay. The Power, which costs £14.90, is as the name suggest for those with a higher turnover.

In addition to the monthly charge there are additional listing fees, which come on top of the normal fees that you pay to eBay. Some one using the Starter plan would pay a Final Valuation Fee of 0.95% (Minimum 10p, Max £1.95) plus a listing fee of 5p. A Power member pays 0.5% Final Valuation (Minimum 10p, Max £1.95) and a 3p listing fee. There is a significant saving if you pay your subscription on an annual rather than a monthly basis. .

I liked the idea that you could attach up to 6 pictures to your listing and that your subscription includes 25MB of image hosting. Additional 100MB can be purchased for £9.95 per month. This program has been available to the users of eBay.com for some time where it has proved to be a popular product in what is becoming a somewhat crowded market.

I can see this program becoming very useful many eBayers helping them at all stages of the selling process. As part of their launch into the UK the company are offering a 2 week trial period which should give anyone a chance to test out the ChannelAdvisor Pro before committing themselves. Definitely worth taking a look at.

The Best Internet Software

I’ve scoured the online world to find the best Internet software in several categories, and I tried hard to find Macintosh equivalents for Windows programs when available. Most of the Windows programs are FREE, as are most of the Mac versions, but there were a few cases where I couldn’t find a freebie or equivalent for the Mac. Let’s have a look…

WEB BROWSERS

FireFox (WIN/MAC/LINUX) FREE
Firefox is a full-featured alternative to Internet Explorer that offers more secure browsing, popup blocking, tabbed browsing (view more than one web page in a single window), built-in search and a download manager.

Opera (WIN/MAC/LINUX) FREE
Opera’s hallmark is compliance with Internet standards, and features a pop-up blocker, multiple-window navigation, mouse gestures, keyboard shortcuts, an e-mail client with a spam filter, and integrated search for user security and speed. The cross-platform browser includes chat, support for RSS newsfeeds, a password manager and cookie manager.

Roboform (WIN) FREE
RoboForm memorizes and stores your passwords, so you don’t have to. It automatically logs you into websites and completes online forms with one click. Passwords can be printed, copied to another computer, backed up, and restored.
http://www.roboform.com

My research shows no equivalent to Roboform for Macs. The Safari browser has some built-in form filling, but it will not work with IE, Firefox or other browsers.

RSS READERS

Feed Demon (WIN) FREE TRIAL
Stop wasting time checking your favorite web sites for updates. Take advantage of RSS feeds and use FeedDemon instead, and make them come to you. Easy-to-read newspaper format displays the latest news from dozens of sites, and Watches alert you to items of interest so you don’t have to look for them.

Data Mining Guide

April 21st, 2008

Data mining is also known as Knowledge Discovery in Databases (KDD). Data mining is the process of automatically searching large volumes of data for patterns. Data is derived from the word datum, being its plural term. Data comprises of a class of large number of significant statements that are measurements or observations of a variable. Data mining works on the basis of computational techniques from statistics machine learning and pattern recognition.

Data mining is the crucial process that helps companies better comprehend their customers. Data mining can be defined as ‘the nontrivial extraction of implicit, previously unknown, and potentially useful information from data’ and also as ‘the science of extracting useful information from large sets or databases’. Data mining is interpreted differently in different contexts but most often it is used in the context of a business or other organization’s need to acknowledge trends.

Just like mining for gold, data mining navigates through large databases and extracts a wealth of customer data, which is then translated into useful and predictive information. A paradigm instance of data mining is its use in a retail sales department where a store tracks the purchases of a customer who buys ample of cotton trousers. The data mining system will make an association with customer and cotton trousers and might either directly market or sale the cotton trouser to that customer or try to get the customer to buy a vast range of products. Data mining also enables automatic detection of the patterns in a database and guides marketing professionals to a better understanding of the customer psychology.

Data mining software enables users to analyze large databases to provide solutions to business decision problems. Data mining is a technology and not a business solution like statistics. The data mining software uses the information that is stored in a historical database of earlier interactions with the customers and about other aspects such as age, zip code, their feedback etc. Thus the data mining software provides an idea about the customers that would be intrigued by the new product. This enables the marketing manager to choose appropriate customers to target.

Data mining is also linked with privacy concerns particularly regarding the source of the data analyzed. For instance an employer can screen out people with diabetes or heart attack and create ethical and legal issues and elimination of costs of insurance. Besides this data mining is also used in the field of medicine to find combinations of drugs with harmful results.

Data mining should be interpreted to give beneficial results. When the data collected involves individual people, the issues concerning privacy, legality and ethics crop up.

Data mining can bring pinpoint accuracy to dales. Creating big central stores of customer data to be used all through the entire enterprise are becoming quite usual but the data warehouses are of no use if there are no proper applications for accessing and using the data in the companies.

Numerous Fortune 1000 companies all over the world have effectively installed many data mining and campaign management.

Mansi aggarwal recommends that you visit Data mining for more information.

Mantis - Web Based Bug Tracking (A Review)

April 14th, 2008

As a developer and a tester, I’ve always been on the lookout for good tools and methods for keeping track of bugs, issues, and incidents that occur with software development. Needless to say, there are an enormous amount of tools out there for doing this. Just do a Google search on “bug tracking” and you’ll be amazed at the number of hits you’ll get. Many of these products are great and do a fantastic job, but for a cost.
If you’re going the open source route, then you’ll discover that there are many different products to choose from. But in many cases, the tool is either limited in functionality, is too complex to configure or use, or has no support. Among all these tools, there is one that stands out above the rest. This is the Mantis Bug Tracker! Mantis is an web based bug tracking system that utilizes a back end SQL database with a easy to use web interface. Mantis is an open source project on Sourceforge.net. Thus, Mantis is “free”! Now, before you start to run away with the “free = junk” mentality, you really ought to give Mantis a serious look. Here’s why:

First of all, Mantis has a huge user base. Lots of users means lots of support! The discussion forum on the web site is a great resource for getting answers to your questions.

The product has reached a mature state. When I started using Mantis 5 years ago, I thought it was great then! But now I’m REALLY impressed! The product continues to grow and be supported by the user community.
This has got to be one of the easiest installations that I’ve had the pleasure to experience. You call your ISP and have them turn on your MySQL server account. Then using your MySQL interface, you past in the SQL script for creating the database structure. You make a couple minor changes to one script file, and then you run the installer. Then BANG - you’re in!

Mantis is highly configurable. I once set up Mantis as a Service Request Tracking System - for keeping track of incoming service calls and requests for a PC Repair business. It worked great! The owner and technicians were highly impressed with being able to receive an email everytime a service request came in.

Mantis is available in 30 different languages with more on the way.
There are multiple filters for looking at the list of bugs in just about any order you want.

Mantis provides the ability to have the testers and users enter new bugs. An email is automatically sent to the person assigned as the project manager. The PM can then assign and prioritize the bug. The assignee receives an email with the assignment. When the bug has been fixed, the developer can flag it thus. And then the PM or QA can verify and close the bug. Multiple projects can be managed in a single database. A project can be flagged as public or private.

Graphs can be generated with the JPGraphs addon tool. (Also, an Open Source Project.)

The documentation on the web site is very extensive and includes user contributed notes.

AND I was totally impressed with the ability to save and export my bug reports into Word and Excel files.

The ART of Software Development in Mantis is in the fact that it was originally created as a MOIIN application. (The Mother Of Invention Is Necessity.) (And yes, I made up the acronym. ;)) The developer wanted a “free” application for tracking the bugs in his game development project. Finding none, he dove in and created Mantis. There was such a huge response to his efforts that he decided to rewrite and release Mantis to the public. And the fact that so many people are using Mantis speaks volumes about its usefulness.

Personally, I’ve spent a lot of hours pouring over a massive number of packages available for issue tracking. I always end up coming back to Mantis. The price can’t be beat. And for those who don’t want to install and configure a Mantis Bug Tracking System then they offer a “Hosted” plan for a minimum cost.

I foresee that Mantis will be around for a long time. And whenever I have influence on the decision of and use of a software bug tracking system then Mantis will be my choice!

10 Tips To Buying Software Online

April 5th, 2008

Buying software online can be tricky, especially if you are new to shopping via the internet. Whether you are upgrading an existing software package or looking for a specific program to install, the process will be a lot less complicated if you know what to look for.

Software Buying Tip # 1
Read customer reviews. Many popular online stores, such as Amazon, allow users to leave their comments about a particular product. Reading other customer reviews may help to make your decision easier because it gives you an idea of others who have experienced the product firsthand.

Software Buying Tip # 2
When considering any type of software, make sure that it is compatible with your computer. Most software requires a specific processor type, such as Pentium or Celeron, and a certain amount of free hard drive space. The reason is because, in order for software to function properly at quickly, the computer must be able to handle the application. By being familiar with your computer’s configuration, you will be able to select the right software.

Software Buying Tip # 3
Become familiar with the software by reading it’s description and capabilities. Before purchasing any type of software, you should make sure that it is exactly what you want or will enjoy learning. Often times, after software is opened, there is no refund policy for buyer’s remorse.

Software Buying Tip # 4
Purchase software from a reputable company. This will ensure customer service, reliability, quality products and timely shipment. By purchasing software from a reliable source, you will also ensure that the title is authentic and not an illegal copy. The best way to check out a business’s reputation is through the Better Business Bureau.

Software Buying Tip # 5
The best part of shopping for software online is the competition. Because there are so many retailers, prices are more competitive than if only one store had the software that you want. Shop around and compare prices before making a final decision.

Software Buying Tip # 6
When making a purchase online, consider using a credit card. Most credit card companies provide a dispute resolution process, which is beneficial if the product is not delivered, is not as advertised or is damaged and the company will not stand behind the transaction.

Software Buying Tip # 7
If purchasing from another individual, such as often the case with online auctions, confirm that the software has all manuals and/or product keys to ensure proper installation.

Software Buying Tip # 8
Learn about the company’s return, refund and/or exchange policy. In many cases, especially with software, the company may refuse to accept the product back for a refund. However, there is always the possibility that a program is damaged or doesn’t function properly, in which case the store should honor the purchase with an exchange for the same title. When buying software online, it’s best to purchase from a store that is reasonable when it comes to exchanges if not refunds.

Software Buying Tip # 9
When purchasing software online, take a moment to look at the company’s shipping costs, methods and availability of a way to track the package following shipment.

Software Buying Tip # 10
Common payment methods include credit cards, checks and/or money orders. If you want to purchase software online, you will need to do so from a company that accepts a convenient payment method. If you do not have a credit card, most companies will accept a mailed payment. Most companies, however, recommend not sending cash.
